Near and Dear to My Heart

Last week, the trucking community I know & love came together. Big time.

A fellow truck driver had a very bad truck accident which left her with the loss of her right arm, among other injuries and she’s still fighting a huge fight. I do not know Lori, but I have a  lot of good friends that do, and they all love her. At this point, whether we have ever met or not, she is my idol.

Having an accident is something every driver- be it in a semi truck, or a personal vehicle fears. It is something that my nightmares are made up of. I don’t have the nightmares some people talk of, you know the ones, where you’re falling, and you wake just before you hit the ground? I have one, not very often thankfully, that is made up of the sounds of twisting metal and my truck falling over on its side. It scares the shit out of me every time, and I hope and pray that I never, ever have to experience that.

Sadly Lori did to some extent experience this, and my heart goes out to her.

I have started a donation page over at WePay to help defer some of Lori and her families expenses.

Thankfully workman’s compensation will cover her hospital expenses and pay her a wage while she is recovering from this awful event, but her kids have had to travel from other states to be with her, as well as take time off of their jobs.

I don’t like to ask for anything from anyone, but if you are able, any donation would be great and appreciated. And if you can not contribiute a donation, prayers are more than welcomed and needed!

Thank you!

Bethany About Bethany

I am a prisoner of the highway, farmer and lover of Mother Nature, the moon and stars, my long and low, flat-top Peterbilt, chickens, cats, dogs, horses, cooking, photography, tattoos, tea pots and vintage barnifacts…among other things. I’m also a very, happily married, third-generation truck driver. My career choice is both demanding and rewarding, just like most things in life that are truly good.
