Truck Stops

Danny’s Big Rig Resort

I have been stopping at Danny’s Big Rig Resort for about 10 years now. In that 10 years I have moved, bought houses, trucks, married my dear Hubs, and a zillion other things that change in life. One thing that has not changed in all that time is the service at Danny’s. I have been going to write a story about Danny’s for some time, but usually I’m not here long enough, I’m dead tired and all I care to do is look at the back of my eyelids or my truck is being rebuilt down the street and I don’t have

Time Spent

Thankfully, Rosie and I have made it safely to Arizona without too many problems. Sometimes in trucking the week really rolls right on by. Other times it's a waiting game. Today is one of those days, and you have to be patient. I try to make the most out of my time though and today is no exception. Although I would love to be loaded and heading to the house right now, Rosie and I have a nice spot to park (covered even) and I'm able to be outdoors which makes me happy. Plus I get to watch cool trucks roll by which also

Savoy Truck Stop- Deming NM I love this place. For a few reasons really, but mostly because so far it has the cheapest fuel in New Mexico that I have found. Above and beyond that though, they have good staff, a very clean facility, small chrome shop, a tire shop, a nice restaurant by the looks of it (I haven't taken the time to dine in), and on top of my list, clean showers! The shower rooms feature a spa like atmosphere. Lastly, the other reason I like this place is because it still has some old time trucking

Protecting Yourself 101

Okay. So I had to pull over just to write this. I have been going to write this, I just have had one of those weeks and not been around the computer much. The comment I made on twitter about taking a nap in an abandoned truck-stop this afternoon made me think "Now is the time". So here's where I'll start this. I don't believe in being scared. Let me rephrase that, I should say that I don't put myself in the situation to be scared, usually. Of coarse a lot lizard knocking on my sleeper in the middle of the night will

Fail is all I can say.... I have never been a fan of Pilots or Loves for the fact that to me, they are nothing but a gas station with a few amenities and a small parking area for truckers. But out of necessity or maybe it was desperation I stopped last week at a Love's in Edna Texas. I was heading to the Valley to load produce, and as usual you never know how long your going to be stuck there. I'm pretty sure the humidity in Texas was close to 100% and I wanted a shower. Bad thing is, there isn't much on the way down

Truck Stop #2 Flying J- Jerrell Texas This was a very nice truck stop I must say. The employees were very nice, the whole complex was new so of coarse nothing was run down. They had nice tile floors and showers and everything was clean. My only real complaints would be that the towels were old and thin, and the automatic faucet sucked. I'm all for saving water and resources. Really I am, but have you tried brushing your teeth with little spurts of water? I had to wave one hand in front of the faucet trying to get

*Just a note: I'm moving a few things around on the new website, so a some things may be reruns until I get everything where I want it! Thank you! My first truck stop I want to feature is probably one of my favorites!! I hate to say it, but the showers at Sapp Bros. Truck stop in Fremont Nebraska are WAY better than even my shower at home! This is a very nice little truck stop that I go out of my way to stop at! The employees treat you like gold, are more than helpful and willing to go out of their way to see that you

Truck Stops 101

I'm going to start a new page here at One Girl Trucking on Truck-stop facilities. As most drivers know a good truck stop these days can be hard to find. Some of you that are newer to the industry may not know the difference, but if you've been out here a while you will remember the good old truck-stops that actually accommodated truckers, not RV's and traveling folks with their kids.... And before anyone huffs about it, trust me, there is a difference! These days a good truck stop is hard to find, a clean shower is

How I live

One thing I want to do with this blog is show people how truckers live in trucks. Since I'm sitting in Texas and it's raining out I thought I'd take the time to shoot a few photos of Rosie and how I live. This is the cab view. It's what I look at all day or night long. Rosie has 21 gauges that tell me oil pressure, speed, RPM's, fuel levels, fuel pressure, voltage, air pressure, oil temperature, and most everything in between that I need to know as to how my engine is running. She also has 20 switches that run lights

The Essence of She

When I started trucking I had a few goals in mind. One of the first (I promised my dad this) was that I was always going to look like a lady, although there are many, many days that I sure don't sound like one (I can swear like a trucker, no doubt!). The second was that I was going to be as good as my grandfather, and the third was that I would some day be an owner operator. I have got them all for the most part. But there is always room for improvement! I grew up in a trucking family and ever since I was little I
