Slow on Content

IMG_9549

I have to apologize for the lack of content both here and on twitter the last month or so. For the past couple weeks, I guess 3 or 4 I've been having problems with a numb hand and arm. It has been very uncomfortable for me. Actually painful so I've been trying to not do things that make me hurt. Honestly, I kind of thought I was dyeing or something. Not really but it did cross my mind... I truck hard, work hard at home, and just figured everything I do was giving me high blood pressure or heart problems or some damn

When Life Gives you Lemons

lemonchicken

Make Grilled Tuscan Lemon Chicken! This is my absolute favorite meal I've made in I don't know how long. Although, most of my meals I make are a favorite in one way or another, this chicken turned out so moist and juicy, I'm thinking I will never make another kind of grilled chicken again! This recipe is from a book from the Barefoot Contessa (Ina Garten) who just happens to be my idol! The dish does need a little prep work, but the results are well worth the time in the kitchen! Side note: I would have never known

Summer Fun

IMG_7839

I have been so busy this summer! I hope you too have been enjoying all the fun things summer has to offer! You have probably noticed when I'm not trucking, I'm home. We don't really run too much. I guess because we spend our week behind the wheel, and of coarse we have a beautiful farm to work and enjoy. I thought I would share some images of our home time. Our animals are spoiled, but you knew that right? Most mornings my hens have to come sit on the front stoop to talk about what the day has to offer. This was a late

A Horse of Coarse

Meet Kassys Dream. Kassy for short. We went for a pretty good ride on Tuesday. One of the hottest days we've had this summer... Kassy did great. Me on the other hand, I was pretty happy to come home and lay on the couch in the air conditioning thinking I needed my head examined! She's a hard one to take photos of, because she's so dang nosey. Think big dog, that's Kassy. Afterwards, we gave both her and her new buddy a bath and they were happy to go eat grass like horses do. There is something about the outside of

Not all It’s Cracked UP To Be

IMG_5390

After the hog incident last week I thought I would share this part of living in southwestern Minnesota. I wrote this post on April 26th. I've since calmed down and cleaned up the language. It was pretty hateful at the time. It's still written in past tense, but you should get the picture. Living in the country is not all it's cracked up to be, that is.... In fact at this point and time I hate living in the country. Really though it's the bastards that own the land around here that I dislike so much. Saturday hubs and

Duck, Duck, Horse

The ducks are learning that if they come to the house they get fed good food. Last weekend we had fresh corn on the cob. I shucked the corn off the deck. Within minutes the ducks were interested in what I was doing. Not too long after that, we had Rollie Fingers in our back yard! I get to feeling guilty that I don't have water up by the house though, so I get them a drink of water. With my mixing bowl. Spoiled ducks I tell you. Fresh chopped carrot (which they LOVE) in Fiestaware none the less. My ducks dine in

Farm Life Woes

betty

Meet Ugly Betty. She's not really ugly, but every year- sometimes twice a year she goes broody. And then she gets ugly. Not mean ugly. Actually I don't think she has a mean bone in her body. She does though, puff up like a turkey and shriek at us when she knows we are going to make her get off her nest and go outside. It's kinda a game. Trying to keep her out of the barn. I've put ice cubes and ice packs under her to try to cool her down. I've blocked the nest. I've even put buckets and bottles of fly spray in the nest

Mother Nature

Good morning! I was lucky enough to be home last night for the storm that rolled through our area. We didn't end up with much rain, but the lightning and thunder was awesome!

BBQ’D Pork Chops, Onion & Skillet Potatoes

I'm like my mother. My mother has always fed us good homemade food. She has always taken care of us whether she was feeling up to it or not. It's just what she did, and still does for my father (and us when we show up on her doorstep). I'm the same way... Wednesday was my first day back home after my El Paso trip, and I was tired. That doesn't seem to stop me though since I always feel like I need to take care of things at home. Take care of hubs and feed him good food. So, that's what I did. I just knew it had to be

Funny Ducks

I hope I don't burn you guys out on duck pictures! I'm somewhat in love with these guys this year! I have to start with the feet... I'll work my way up. I can't help it, they are just so dang cute! Hubs ran the water hose for the ducks on Friday. When I came upon the scene they were having a ball! I don't think I've ever seen this far into a ducks mouth before!
