Some days I just feel like wandering When I have these feelings, I take in everything around me as if I was a sponge. I wish I could explain it, but on these days I feel like everything is so new, and I am in awe of the world around me. Even the rain storms & snow I woke to was welcome sight. If I could urge you all to do one thing, it would be to slow down a bit and look at the world around you. It truly is magical.
Yesterday morning we woke to a world of beauty. Not that my world isn't always beautiful, but when I wake to hoarfrost my day is just special since it's one of my favorite things to see when I look out our windows in the morning. It’s that time of year again! My garlic is growing great guns and I was just out in my garden enjoying a little quiet time snapping off the squiggly garlic scapes growing out of my garlic so the energy is focused back towards the garlic. Garlic scapes are a treat for me and I look forward to them every year. Not only are they cool looking but they taste awesome too. I not only use my pesto for an easy pasta sauce, I mix it with mayonnaise and use it for a topping on chicken sandwiches, and/or mix with sour cream or
Yesterday was spent outdoors. Between my garden & my shop, I was busy and didn't finally get to sit down until 7 last night... By then I couldn't stand up either, due to the pain. There are people on vacation. There are people that want to go on vacation but can't. You may be on vacation even as you read this. For me though, since I drive my life away I am very happy to be planted on my own soil. Sometimes though, I work too hard and keep too busy to really enjoy my home time as much as I should. There are times, I get asked why I don't have any flowers in my planter on the deck. To which I have to answer, the girls have to take their daily dirt baths... Even though there are umpteen acres around here to take dirt baths on. And they are so good at sharing! And getting our deck full of dirt once they shake the dirt off... Last night I pulled into Oakley KS with the intensions of writing. I had stopped early and had a few stories I wanted to get up here. Rather than relax in my bunk though, I sat in the cab wondering if I should have kept going, if I should start going again, or if I should sit tight and hope to hell what I was looking at didn't turn out to be something similar to Joplin MO. I just had to share this with you all. My lime tree is going absolutely crazy! The limes below are about thumb size right now, but will grow into (If I'm lucky) a full sized lime. Over the winter I kept the tree behind my couch to let it rest a bit. Once the sun come around and spring hit (hello spring? can you hear me?) Hubs and I slid the tree in front of our living room window and she was ready! Such an amazing tree! She is bursting with blossoms and little limes everywhere! Yum! If your interested in growing
