Rosies Innards

As you know if you read One Girl Trucking very often, Hubs and I try to do our own truck repairs as much as possible. It always saves a ton of money which in this industry especially, where the price of everything has gone up except of coarse the rate of pay to haul the freight. It is a good practice to get into if you are going to own your own truck and even if you're a company driver having a little knowledge may just get you safely off the side of the road. A few weeks ago I made a trip down to Texas. Everything

Trucking, Training & the Mentality of Others

A few weeks ago when I went to pick up my loaded trailer I run into a driver I have known for some time. He is a company driver for one of the accounts I haul for. He has always been fun to talk to, so of coarse when I walked into the guard shack we gave each other a bit of shit, told a story or two and caught up on where we have been. Finally as I was going to walk out the door to go get my trailer I asked him if he was going out or coming back in, to which he replied that he wouldn’t be driving for the next two

Be A Prepared Trucker

So last week while home I changed oil, fuel filters and rewired lights on Rosie. I also scrubbed my carpets of all the winter yuck that had accumulated and got her looking and smelling all nice and pretty. Once I was done with the interior I headed to my side boxes to see if they needed a once over too. They needed it. Big time. I pulled everything out and started over, but I'm pretty sure everything except for a pair of winter shoes and Rosies winter front went right back in. Living in a smaller truck like Rosie,

Today, Yesterday, and Now

Today is better than yesterday. And yesterday wasn't all bad, but it didn't start off so hot. Rosie got a little bucky with me right off the bat yesterday morning. Bright and early, like at 4am which is when I don't want to have trouble. I got up raring to go thinking I'd make a pretty easy day out of it and be done early. Rosie, not so much. She wanted to rest more I guess, because when I pushed the button to start her, all she did was "click". First you turn the key to the start position Then you push the button I

Just a Little Ride With My Hubs

hisnhers

I really never had any intention of posting this anywhere. BUT, seeing Hubs and I don't get to run together as much as we would like I thought I'd take video. Then when I started watching it, I could see a different view of how it looks to turn a truck on corners and I thought I would show you. Don't worry, it may look like it, but I don't run anything over! Trucks need a good amount of room to move, and even though I meet a lot of people who are willing to give me that room, I run into even more people who are mad as

Take a Ride-Highway 60 Arizona

newmexicosunrise

This is a short trip across HWY 60 in Arizona just west of Show Low. The ride I'm about to take you on is just the tip of the iceberg for what you can and will see on HWY 60. It's beautiful country! For a trucker I think, with a loaded wagon HWY 60 is a lot of work and you had best be prepared and know your truck, how to handle it, and what lies ahead. Sometime when I have the chance I will video more of the ride. By the time I got into most of the pulling/downhill grades I had lost most of my light.

Time Spent

Thankfully, Rosie and I have made it safely to Arizona without too many problems. Sometimes in trucking the week really rolls right on by. Other times it's a waiting game. Today is one of those days, and you have to be patient. I try to make the most out of my time though and today is no exception. Although I would love to be loaded and heading to the house right now, Rosie and I have a nice spot to park (covered even) and I'm able to be outdoors which makes me happy. Plus I get to watch cool trucks roll by which also

So You Want to Own a Truck?

BLOOD

The one thing that I really wanted to do when I first started this blog was to show the general public that I myself and a great share of the truck drivers on our highways are not uneducated flunkeys just driving a truck. I wanted to show that even though there are a lot of people driving trucks because they are nothing more than a warm body holding a steering wheel for large companies like Swift, JB Hunt, CRST, Prime, CR England and so many more, we as a group, especially the Owner Operators are business owners just
