Spring Blooms & Spring Skies

The Farm

I have been home for a  few days now, and I had only been gone a few weeks with a quick weekend home in between but, spring seems to have swept through, waved her magic wand and brought everything into bloom here on the farm.  It's beautiful of coarse, but I'm not sure I am processing it like I would any other year. My brain seems stuck. It seems to be use to the nice weather we had in December, January and February but the actual spring that we usually enjoy has just never happened for me. Along with all the

A Long Crappy Weekend

i25 New Mexico

Do you ever have days, weeks, months where you just figure you should have stayed in bed? This has been on of those weeks for me. First I lost my turbo Friday afternoon, which put me behind the eight ball for having a somewhat leisurely ride out west. That was fine, I put my nose to the grindstone and kept at it arriving just in time for the most hellacious storm Arizona has had all winter long. The signs were in the sky, I knew the weather was going to get shitty, I just didn't figure on it getting this

Loneliness, Bad Weather & Hood Shots

Hood Shot, Peterbilt

The weather this trip has been far from nice. I had well over 200 miles of fog which really makes for a slow, slow ride. Then the fog turned into a welcomed rain. Until it started to freeze. I guess the weather took my mind off being lonely. It doesn't come round very often, but sometimes it does, even when I'm so use to being alone. Even when I try to push it away. Generally I love it. My time alone, not poor weather. I love my rides across the country and Monday when I left I was so feeling it. But yesterday, I

Winter Thoughts

"Sometimes the questions are complicated and the answers are simple." ~Dr. Seuss Nights like this when the trip is almost over,  you can't help but go over the ride you've had along the way. Your out on the road alone, so you hash over the bad weather you have encountered. The people you've met along the way. The equipment that has broke because of the weather. The work you do alone and the fact you figure it out all by yourself. Then you have to wonder if it's all worth it. Even though your dead tired, something

Northwestern Iowa Storm

ia+storm

Since the wind and stormy weather has yet to break in our area, I thought this would be the perfect time for this video. I took this video last Saturday night on my way to Minneapolis, the last leg of my trip. It ended up being quite a ride, as the rain made for moments of low or no visibility. I ended up stopping towards at the end of this video and having supper with hopes of the storm letting up. Sadly, I did not get out of the storm until well after midnight, which made for a long drive. I wish I had the sound of

Good morning! I was lucky enough to be home last night for the storm that rolled through our area. We didn't end up with much rain, but the lightning and thunder was awesome!

Hood Shots For Week 6/14/10

undercover

The weather was interesting the last couple of weeks. Stormy in many parts of Nebraska and Kansas (Above: The Great Platte River Road Archway Monument) It made for an interesting ride. Luckily I made it home in one piece, just missing this tornado by an hour last night in Wadena MN. Hubs kept calling me and texting me telling me to get home and to be careful.... Neither one of us knew anything like this would happen. I have a bit of video I'm working on of the skies that I saw on my way up to Wadena. Luckily I was

I’ll Be Back

Last night I had a bit of a mishap while dropping my trailer. I'm okay, but I ended up smashing my finger and knuckle against my trailer because I wasn't probably paying as good of attention as I should have been. I ended up with a very slight fracture so I'm very slow on the keyboard. Just thought I'd let you know I'll be back in a few days! I'll leave you with a view from a sunny Sunday in Minnesota...

The Good, Bad, & Ugly of Spring…

We lost a hen the night before last night. She was one of my Black Australorps which really makes me mad. I knew as soon as I opened up the coop yesterday morning... A pile of  feathers was all I could see. I spent all afternoon working to make sure it wouldn't happen again. I found a feather trail from the coop, over a tall door, into a back room, then up into the hay loft. One of the slide doors on the west side of the barn had been chewed on for some time. I'm guessing the coon had been working on it for for a

Sunrise and Sunset…

Last trip I woke up to this view... Now if only I had a hot cup of coffee and a deck to sit on and contemplate my day... Somewhere in New Mexico... One of my favorite states since there is such history here! My reward for getting home safely! I got home Sunday afternoon. Luckily I made it before the wind blew our roads closed. Since I had a couple friends get stuck in the weather, I considered myself lucky to sit in my kitchen and watch the sun go down!
