What do you love about Home?

Migrating Geese

If you peruse this here website even a little you know that I love where I live and that I adore our farm. I suppose I am a walking contradiction, since I always want to be home, just as much as I want to be out on the road trucking. When my wagon is loaded, and it is time to truck I set my sights on the road and what I'll encounter along the way. When my wagon is empty and it is time to go home, I am like a horse with a bit in its mouth heading for the barn. There really is no stopping me and I can't wait to get

Why Would I have such a Nightmare?

This morning I feel as if I didn’t rest at all. I’m guessing it was because of the nightmare I had. I don’t have typical dreams it seems. Seeing as I have lived in a truck for so many years my dreams/nightmares tend to revolve around trucks & trucking. When I have nightmares, I don’t have the normal falling to the ground nightmares where you wake just before you hit the ground, rather I have nightmares of Rosie and me tipping over on some mountainside, to which I always wake just before she hits the ground,

Danny’s Big Rig Resort

I have been stopping at Danny’s Big Rig Resort for about 10 years now. In that 10 years I have moved, bought houses, trucks, married my dear Hubs, and a zillion other things that change in life. One thing that has not changed in all that time is the service at Danny’s. I have been going to write a story about Danny’s for some time, but usually I’m not here long enough, I’m dead tired and all I care to do is look at the back of my eyelids or my truck is being rebuilt down the street and I don’t have

Hubs To Die For Cake

cake!

I found this recipe on Simply Recipes and renamed it for hubs since he is the chocolate feign between the two of us. And honestly, I'm pretty sure if you ate too much of this cake it would kill you! Oh, and I added espresso powder to jazz up the chocolate a bit. You could omit it if you like! And now I'm heading to the treadmill! Ten-four? INGREDIENTS 14 ounces semisweet broken chocolate  into small pieces 3 Tbsp water 12 eggs, separated 2 cups granulated sugar 2 teaspoons grated orange peel 1 teaspoon

Fettuccine with Butter & Pistachios

IMG_6768

I found this recipe on the web and had to make it almost immediately. Unfortunately I can't find the website again to give proper credit but I wanted to share with you anyhow! Generally I only use whole wheat pasta, but I did have a package of regular fettuccine in the pantry so I thought I would try it out. I'm guessing the flavors showed through a bit more with the regular vs. whole wheat, but given the nuttiness of whole wheat, it may add to it. I will go back to my whole wheat next time and check out the

Hatch Green Chile Stew & Quiche- For Chilly Minnesota!

IMG_6528

I'm in love with New Mexico. You knew that right? It's not just the land that holds my attention so. It's the Chile pepper too. I love it. I could eat it daily. Or more. I could happily move to New Mexico just for the food, even if the scenery was not there.... I could happily eat burritos and only food filled with Hatch green chile peppers the rest of my life! Get the idea? I'm leaving back out in a few hours, but last night I made a wonderful meal to calm my desire for Chile peppers and use up a few leftovers in

A New Lens: Lens Baby

IMG_6337

I purchased a new lens for my camera. At this point I'm not sure if I love it or hate it yet. It's really cool, don't get me wrong, but it is a manual focus which slows me down (which is probably a good thing) but since my time is limited I have a hard time with that! You can check out the lens here to see what it is and what it does. And if you like, you can check out a few photos that I thought came out kind of cool so far. Tucson Truck Terminal, Tucson AZ Highway 60, New Mexico There are three crosses at this

Christmas Scones

IMG_5594

Oh, if you could have smelled them when they came out of the oven! I have had a heck of a time saving these for the holidays, but so far so good. This is all my sister in laws fault-Hi Christy! Even though we don't get to spend much time together, she knows me, all too well. So, for my birthday she created a monster. She bought me this cookbook, which I would highly suggest. Sadly though, I had to go trucking shortly after I opened my present so I had to take the book with me on the truck. Let me just say it was a
